I was born in Arcata, California and I lived there until I was 20 years old. After high school, I attended College of the Redwoods where I received my Associate of the Arts in University Studies. I moved down to the Bay Area to attend UC Berkeley in the fall of 2007. I wanted to pursue a double major in Art and Biology, so I attended Merritt College for a year and a half to finish up all of my pre-requisites. I returned to Berkeley and now I am finally graduating. It has been a long and winding road to get to where I am today; however, it has been my passion and love of art that has kept me focused and stable.
Making art has been a passion of mine ever since I was a young girl. I read books and practiced endlessly to teach myself how to draw and paint. In elementary school, the only time I worked on art was on special projects or group assignments. I received my first formal training in high school where I also participated in creating murals and organized community projects using my artistic skills.
At community college, I continued my studies in art, but I also found a spark of inspiration in the field of biology. Living things have always fascinated me, and I try to capture the spark and movement of life every time I pick up a pencil or brush. I went to Berkeley in order to develop my concepts and imagery further. I find inspiration in life, and coming to Berkeley was a well of inspiration.
At this point in my life, I plan on letting my inspiration take me on an adventure. I don’t know what I’ll do, where I’ll be, or who I’ll meet, but what I do know is that I’ll have my charcoal pencils along with me every step of the way.
